Spain’s Professional Association of Aeronautical Engineers (COIAE) has recognized AERTEC’s founders Vicente Padilla and Antonio Gómez-Guillamón with the “2022 Engineer of the Year” award.

The jury has valued the enviable track record of both aeronautical engineers, CEO and co-founders of AERTEC, for their remarkable experience both in Spain and abroad as well as their courage for their entrepreneurial vocation: both have created AERTEC, a consolidated and highly relevant player in the Spanish aeronautical sector, with more than 600 employees and subsidiaries in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Colombie, Peru, United States and the United Arab Emirates.

COIAE created this award in 2014 with the aim of recognizing each year the professional career of outstanding aeronautical engineers.

In addition, COIAE has considered the numerous awards and recognitions received, such as the Andalusian Medal or the National Young Entrepreneur Award. They have recently been awarded the “International Deployment” award by Extenda’s Andalusian Export Agency.

The intense partnership-building activity in the sector and in society overall has been another recognized value, which is evidenced by Aertec’s presence in various institutions such as the Spanish Association for Defense, Security, Aeronautics and Space Technologies (TEDAE), the Andalusia Aerospace Cluster, the Advanced Center for Aerospace Technologies (FADA-CATEC), the Forum of Innovative Companies, Cre100do and Malaga TechPark Execs, among others.

The tireless collaboration with the profession and the aeronautical industry, especially with Spain’s Professional Association of Aeronautical Engineers, has also been recognized.

He began his professional career at Boeing (Seattle) in 1992, then continued at Gamesa Aeronáutica (currently Aernnova) in 1995.  In 1997 he co-founded Aertec Solutions alongside Antonio Gómez-Guillamón. Padilla was vice-dean of COIAE and vicepresident of AIAE between 2016 and 2020.

COIAE created this award in 2014 with the aim of recognizing each year the professional career of outstanding aeronautical engineers, as well as spreading knowledge and news about the aeronautical profession and professionals, highlighting their contribution to the Spanish industry. Antonio Gómez-Guillamón and Vicente Padilla join previous award-winning engineers José Manuel Hesse and Miguel Ángel Morell in 2014, Luis Gallego in 2015, Ángel Luis Arias in 2016, Carmen Librero in 2017, Moisés Fernández in 2018, Manuel Huertas in 2019 and Jesús Caballero in 2020-21.
