Our history

Aeronautical vocation

AERTEC was founded in Malaga in 1997, by two aeronautical engineers. Since the very beginning our link to the aeronautical sector has been constant, and specialisation has become our most authentic hallmark.

Fuerteventura Airport (Canary Islands) provided us with our first opportunity at national level in 2000, and just one year later we were awarded our first international contract at London Luton Airport, along with our first contract for Airbus Group. At that point our aerospace division was born, and since then it has not stopped growing, now accounting for half of all of our activity.

Since then we have opened a number of new offices both in Spain and abroad. Our international vocation began from very early on, and today we have offices in Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, Colombia, the United States and Abu Dhabi. We are undertaking projects in 40 countries across five continents, we are also present in many of the world’s leading aeronautical programmes, and we have worked at over 160 international airports. Our workforce is made up of over 600 professionals and our turnover reached more than 34 million euros during the last financial year.

“When your vocation appears, never let it fade away. You may get far by working hard, but if you also have a vocation, you’ll have no limits.”
Félix Gómez-Guillamón (1898-1979)

A family vocation. The two founders of AERTEC are the grandchildren of a pioneer of aeronautics in Spain, General Félix Gómez-Guillamón, who passed on his great passion for engineering and aeronautics to the whole family.

At the beginning of the 20th century, he joined the army’s corps of engineers. Shortly afterwards, he entered into the world of ballooning, where he excelled as a pilot. He took part in various competitions, and represented Spain in the Gordon Bennett Aeronautical Cup in 1923, for which he received a medal from His Majesty King Alfonso XIII.

He was also the founder and director of the first aeronautical magazine aimed at the general public published in Spain, Motoavión, which played a key role in the dissemination of aeronautical knowledge, and in the active participation of the scientific community in aviation.

His aeronautical vocation remains alive to this day.
