“In addition to the great atmosphere and the possibility to achieve a great work-life balance, I consider that the Systems area’s technical tasks allow me to work on cutting-edge projects, many of which are pioneering projects in Europe.”

My first few days at AERTEC

A friend of mine told me about a company that was developing an unmanned aircraft in Seville when I was completing my Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering. I contacted them, because I was very interested and thought that I had much to offer this project. They first asked me to work for them as an intern and I was then hired by the company.

I was acquainted with the world of aviation because I have always been fascinated about “things that can fly” and, more specifically, about fixed-wing aircraft. Moreover, one of my hobbies as a child was building model planes, something my father introduced me to.

My career at AERTEC

On my first day at work, I gained first-hand experience of the technology related to the RPAS currently being developed by the company and met the people behind these developments. I was impressed.

During my time here, I think I have followed a logical career path. I have been assigned to increasingly complex tasks that required a higher degree of responsibility and I have had to learn continuously to handle my Department’s needs.

What I like most about my job

What I enjoyed the most at first were the TARSIS flight campaigns, including the test flights and the demos held with clients. I still enjoy these events, but I currently like to spend time developing new features for the TARSIS RPAS with my team, improving their operations, maintainability and performance.

On the downside, we have the paperwork! We work with a huge amount of documents and this is not as much fun.

My colleagues

I am fortunate to work with a talented group of people who do a very good job all the time. In this regard, I must say I admire my colleagues.

Working in AERTEC

Our company not only has a good work atmosphere and allows everyone to achieve a good work-life balance, but the Systems area’s technical tasks allow me to work on cutting-edge projects, many of which are pioneering projects in Europe. This is a huge incentive for very technically inquisitive engineers.

Life beyond the office: my hobbies

I continue to build model aeroplanes, although not as much as I did before. One of my latest hobbies is engine-powered hang-gliding. Whenever I can and the weather is nice, I like to enjoy a day out hand-gliding. You can fit an engine-powered hang-glider inside your boot and then strap it onto your back like a backpack. This is one of the lightest and most versatile ways of flying.
