The specialisation of the Spanish technology company AERTEC Solutions in the design of on-board systems is growing significantly. Some of its applications have been for AERTEC’s own guided ammunition systems and TARSIS unmanned aerial platforms. This expertise, together with the knowledge acquired by AERTEC during its participation in various R&D projects that have been part of European consortia within the Clean Sky programme, have been key factors contributing to the Airbus Group putting its trust in AERTEC Solutions for the digitisation of its aircraft cabin communication systems.
AERTEC’s headquarters in the German city of Hamburg is leading these technological developments, the novelty of which lies in the application of SoC (system on chip) technology to on-board aeronautical systems.
The company’s headquarters in Hamburg, Germany is collaborating with the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus in the redesign of its critical systems, applying what is known as SoC (system on chip) technology, which consists of the integration of electronic components (called COTS) with on-board aeronautical equipment that are part of cabin intercommunication systems, such as the AAP (Additional Attendant Panel). The novelty lies in the application of this SoC technology to on-board aeronautical systems, which until now has been little used.
This innovative development carried out by AERTEC Solutions will result in a paradigm shift in the design of Airbus’s on-board systems, which up to now have been analogue. The aim is to digitise and strengthen cabin communications systems in Airbus’s civil aircraft.
According to Rafael Ortiz, head of the Critical Systems department at AERTEC Solutions, “this new collaboration with Airbus involves a high degree of innovation and the application of knowledge acquired by our engineers thanks to both our own developments and to AERTEC’s participation in European projects, especially in avionics. This allows us to create and apply new technologies to the aeronautical industry.”
The company showcased this and other capabilities, in addition to its latest technological developments, at the International Aeronautics and Space Show, better known as the Paris Air Show, held at Le Bourget Airport in Paris from 17th to 23rd June. This is one of the most important aeronautical events in the world, bringing together more than 2,300 exhibitors from all across the globe, including AERTEC Solutions.
This multinational engineering and consultancy firm specialised in aeronautics and defence is part of the Spanish delegation of companies taking part in the Paris Air Show, where it will showcase its latest developments and capabilities within the aeronautical sector, including its specialisation in the design of on-board systems.
