The Airbus A380 not only is the world’s largest passenger aircraft, but also an engineering wonder. Everything has been, and is, gigantic: its design, its manufacturing, its logistic and its operation.

It seems like yesterday, but almost ten years have gone by (26 April 2005) since it made its maiden flight. The first A380 came into service in October 2007 for the company Singapore Airlines.

It is undoubtedly one of the most risky bets of the world’s aerospace industry, due to the complexity of its development and its incredibly elaborate manufacturing process. Four countries (Germany, Spain, United Kingdom and France) are involved in the manufacture of the A380’s components. They all meet in Toulouse for the assembly which also needs to be carried out at very specific times and conditions so that the chain production complies with the delivery goals established.

Transport of the pieces, some of them measuring several dozens of metres in length, is carried out by land, sea or air by means of transport which are already an impressive sight by themselves due to their sizes.

In fact, almost all the figures related to the Airbus A380 catch your eye, enormous in every feature we mention. But there are many details and fun facts that go unnoticed and make this aircraft even bigger, if that is possible.
