AERTEC creates new company “AERTEC Defence & Aerial Systems”

AERTEC has created a new subsidiary, AERTEC Defence & Aerial Systems, to strengthen the firm’s aerial system capabilities using proprietary products and technology. It will serve European and international markets in the dual-use segment of high-performing unmanned aerial systems and autonomous technology systems.

The new company was officially registered in Malaga on Wednesday, 18 September.

The new subsidiary will focus on the design, development and manufacture of unmanned aerial vehicles and platforms as well as dual-use guidance, navigation and control technologies, starting with the company’s current catalogue of intellectual property products.

The distinguishing feature of AERTEC Defence & Aerial Systems, which has already got clients and contracts, is that it incorporates the entire family of proprietary products based on 100% AERTEC technology, focusing primarily on TARSIS systems, mature use cases and other solutions currently in development.

The new subsidiary’s star product is the TARSIS family, which are the most advanced UAS with Spanish technology of their class. Both the current version and the version under development are designed for a variety of military and civil applications. The former operates on short unprepared runways, while the latter will have vertical takeoff and landing capabilities and hybrid propulsion.

AERTEC Managing DirectorsThe TARSIS Systems include ATOL (Automatic Take Off and Landing) technology and a comprehensive guidance, navigation and control system, all based on proprietary products. Furthermore, as the owner of the system’s core technologies, the company can seamlessly incorporate a variety of options: secure communications, weapons integration, laser targeting, backup satellite link, dual and multispectral sensors, and payloads for communications and emergency response.

‘The systems AERTEC develops include a variety of aerial platforms and ground control station configurations that can accommodate a range of domestically developed payloads’, says Pedro Becerra, AERTEC Aerospace & Defence Director.

The TARSIS ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance) versions are high-end Class 1 UAS with lightweight tactical systems. They offer a high payload capacity of up to 15 kg and an extended flight endurance of up to 12 hours, allowing for multiple configurations and adaptability to highly demanding operating environments.

The TARSIS W version, a product by the same company, is currently under development in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence. It has a payload capacity of up to 30 kg and the ability to integrate 3-kg FOX missiles.

The new company’s registered office is in Malaga TechPark, its Centre of Development and Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Aerópolis, Seville’s Aerospace Technology Park. It is preparing a new location in Galicia to develop civil use cases such as Salvamento Marítimo (Maritime Rescue), firefighting and environmental monitoring.
