Personal Air Vehicles

Soon to pilot its own aircraft. From your home to wherever you want. Absurd? The idea is not as far-fetched as it sounds.

In the early 20th century, only the rich and famous were allowed to travel in their private cars. In those days, private cars were expensive, complicated to drive and difficult to maintain. As a result, British lords needed professional chauffeurs to drive them to hunting grounds in their counties. However, the masses - even the wealthy upper middle class - had to travel by public transport.

All we need is the audacity of a modern Henry Ford to build self-piloted aircraft for the whole world.

This all changed with the arrival of the Henry Ford Model T. It was the first car that it was mass-produced for the people on the street. In the mid-1930s in the United States, private cars were within the reach of ordinary people. By the end of the 20th century, they were ubiquitous in every country in the world.

Today, at the beginning of the 21st century, only the rich and famous can afford to travel in their private aircraft. Private jets are expensive, complicated to fly and difficult to maintain. As a result, Wall Street tycoons need professional pilots to and from their Caribbean islands. The masses (even the affluent upper middle class) have to share seats on Southwest Airlines and Ryanair planes.

However, things are about to change again. The technology is mature and is becoming cheaper.. Pilotless drones are taking off and landing everywhere. All we need is the audacity of a modern Henry Ford manufacturing autopilot aircrafts for the whole world.

The problem it's not technological, it's more psychological. Think about it, just sit back in the pilot's seat, click on your destination and relax. Let the computer take over - let's fly!

Would it?
