Farnborough, at the centre of aeronautical history

Your figures are striking, even for an industry which, like aeronautics, is accustomed to dealing with large numbers. The presence of 1,500 aerospace industry exhibitors from more than 50 countries, 100,000 professional visitors and business totalling around 124 trillion dollars during the days the exhibition lasts, define the Farnborough Airshow. AERTEC participates in the ecosystem of Aerospace engineering what is exhibited at Farnborough, as a Tier 1 supplier to Airbus on top-tier civil and military programmes.

Farnborough-003Many companies in the sector prepare their presence at this event two years in advance, aware of its importance for their brand. And it truly is. Everything at Farnborough is immense. The airshows are continuous and each one is more interesting than the last. The new and strategic aircraft models from manufacturers are presented at this exhibition, aware that A good product isn't enough, but also, It has to be shown on the best forum possible.

Farnborough is a small town in the county of Hampshire, in the south of England, with a population of about 70,000. However, it is the place of The birth of aviation in the United Kingdom. It all began in the early 20th century with the establishment of the Royal Balloon Factory and the construction of the first aerodrome, the site of the first powered flight in the British Isles, in 1908. It was used exclusively by the RAF until 1989, when it began to be used for commercial flights. It is currently operated by TAG Aviation.

Farnborough-005In 1948, the initiative arose to carry out British Royal Air Force exhibitions and the British Aircraft Corporation (Society of British Aircraft Companies) which eventually became the Farnborough Airshow we know today. Both civilian and military aircraft, astonishing in their size, performance, or technological innovations, have passed through there, and continue to do so.

Until the next edition of the Farnborough Airshow, to be held in the summer of 2018, you can learn a little more about its history and the importance of this exhibition through the links we are attaching, including a magnificent article by Tim Bowler for BBC News.
