Thanks to our extensive experience and track record in the design, manufacture and certification of on-board systems, AERTEC is incorporated as a technology supplier for the engine pillar of the FCAS.
The Future Combat Air System (FCAS), the high-tech military fighter being developed jointly by Spain, France and Germany, is in phase 1B of the programme. This phase includes the engine pillar 2, which has just been joined as a technology supplier by AERTEC, thanks to a contract signed with the company that leads the engine pillar of the FCAS on the Spanish side, ITP Aero.
AERTEC has extensive experience in the design, manufacture and certification of on-board systems, The project will focus on control computers for various critical applications and subsystems, as well as intelligent data management concentrators. The international Spanish technology company will work, in coordination with ITP Aero, on the design and manufacture of prototypes to validate new technology developments related to engine control systems. To develop these demonstrators, the contract will run until the end of 2026.
“The methodology and development of proprietary technology, combined with our efficient management of project risks, allow us to anticipate these risks and develop reliable solutions, This has been one of the keys to join as a technology supplier for this ambitious European defence project,” says Sara Bellido, Business Development Manager for AERTEC's Aerospace and Defence Systems department. “We have a lot of experience in this type of systems but it is a challenge to apply them to an engine with new components, new cooling techniques or even extreme environmental conditions,” she adds.
AERTEC is one of the few Spanish companies specialising in the development of innovative onboard systems, capable of manage the complete cycle of this equipment from design and rapid prototyping to certification and industrialisation.. It is involved in other FCAS pillars, as well as in other civil and defence programmes such as the A400M, A350, A330MRTT and EURODRON, among others.
The FCAS is a strategic European high-tech project with an investment of 8 billion euros, which is expected to be operational by 2040.
