Tourism and Aviation

There are few relationships as obvious and satisfying as the one between the world of aviation and global tourism. Today it would be impossible to understand tourism without the existence of a means of transport which, like the aeroplane, allows us to reach any remote destination in a few hours. And this is not a local phenomenon. Anywhere in the world, especially in summer, the impact that tourism has on its economy, customs and local development is clearly perceived.

However, no matter how much we talk about it, the figures will continue to surprise us time and again with their sheer volume. And with extraordinary growth rates year after year.

We have taken the time to compile the figures published for 2012-2013 by the main international organisations (IATA, UNWTO, ATAG, ACI) and specialised entities (Amadeus, Oxford Economics, airlines, Airbus, Boeing) and condense them into an infographic that will allow us to better see the importance of this magical relationship between aviation and tourism.

Important note: The data on which this infographic is based is that available at the time of its creation, in 2013.
