The Minister of Economy, Finance, European Funds and Social Dialogue of the Regional Government of Andalusia, Carolina Spain, has visited the headquarters of the technology company AERTEC in Malaga, in an institutional meeting that has served to highlight the strategic role of Andalusian engineering in the aerospace and defence sectors.
The councillor was welcomed by the company's founders and CEO., Antonio Gómez-Guillamón and Vicente Padilla, who accompanied the Head of Economy on a tour of the facilities and explained the company's lines of activity and growth plans according to its strategic plan until 2028. Founded in 1997 in Málaga, AERTEC has established itself as an international company specialising in aeronautical engineering, airport consultancy and defence technology which, based in Andalusia, has a presence in several countries and a solid track record linked to the development of the Spanish aerospace industry.
During the visit, Carolina España highlighted the relevance of companies like AERTEC in the Transformation of the Andalusian productive fabric, highlighting its contribution to innovation, internationalisation and the creation of skilled employment. Likewise, it has emphasised the role of public-private collaboration and the use of European funds as a lever to strengthen the sector's competitiveness. The visit is part of the Ministry's agenda, which aims to gain first-hand insight into the economic drivers of Andalusia's strategic sectors and to strengthen dialogue with the region's leading companies.
For his part, Antonio Gómez-Guillamón has expressed his gratitude for the institutional support from the Junta de Andalucía during his speech, and has highlighted the importance of continuing to boost the Andalusian aerospace ecosystem, in a context marked by technological evolution and new demands in defence and aviation.
This drive is also supported by the strengthening of its workforce, which will add 200 highly qualified professionals, and a constant commitment to innovation, with an investment in R&D of around 8% per year relative to turnover. The company is also advancing its positioning in strategic areas such as aircraft electrification and the development of critical onboard systems for civil and military aircraft. In specific defence systems, the firm is working on qualifying its own products, specialising in precision-guided munitions. In all cases, technology developed in Andalusia with the participation of research groups from the region's universities is incorporated.
According to Gómez-Guillamón, “We are in a phase of growth with high added value, which corresponds to a defined and sustained strategy over time. We are committed to technological development and proprietary products as a differentiating element, reinforcing industrialisation capabilities in key areas of the aerospace and defence sector.
According to AERTEC's CEO, “this advance is supported by the talent of our team and a culture of constant innovation, which allows us to adapt to an increasingly demanding and competitive environment. At the same time, we continue to expand our international presence and strengthen our global positioning from a solid base in Andalusia.”
Similarly, AERTEC continues to expand its activity in the airport sector, offering expert knowledge, planning and designing facilities worldwide with the aim that its international revenues in this area will represent 80% of the total by 2028.
