AERTEC Solutions, the multinational engineering and consultancy firm specialising in the airport and aerospace industry, has been awarded a new consultancy project to oversee and ensure compliance with the safety regulations of the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport in Cali, Colombia.
The company is responsible for supervising, analysing and determining the degree of compliance with international safety standards established by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) in the flightfield area of this Colombian airport, one of the most important in the country. The work carried out by AERTEC Solutions focuses on analysing the safety characteristics and parameters of the flightfield in its various zones (taxiway area, runways, lighting systems, signage, channelisation and drainage, etc.) as well as on determining the improvement measures and necessary adaptations to guarantee compliance with these regulations.
AERTEC Solutions is participating in this initiative as an independent consultancy firm, having been awarded the contract by AEROCALI, the private entity responsible for managing Cali International Airport, following an open tender process against other international companies in the sector.
The initiative is part of the airport's renovation and adaptation process to meet ICAO safety and quality standards.
The design undertaken by AERTEC Solutions “is very complex due to the diversity of activities it comprises, and especially because the work must be carried out with the Airport operational. Furthermore, after the works, the Airport will implement a new Operational Safety Management System which will significantly improve the management of operations and their operational safety, allowing it to efficiently manage its growing traffic,” explains Carlos Berenguer, Airports Director at the airport consultancy.
