AERTEC Solutions presented the «Factory of the Future» in Montreal.»

AERTEC Solutions, the multinational engineering and consulting company specialising in aeronautics, is enhancing its technological activity with the development of new tools aimed at improving processes in engineering, manufacturing and assembly in the aerospace industry and advancing towards the so-called Factory of the Future.

The firm has presented its progress in Aeromart Montreal, one of the most significant business meet-ups in the aerospace sector in North America, which was held in the city of Montreal (Canada) from March 30th to April 2nd. AERTEC Solutions participated in this event by having its own stand (stand 1418), where it also showcased its extensive portfolio of expert engineering services for the sector, with the aim of boosting its international strategy and establishing business contacts with new aerospace companies and entities in Canada and the North American continent.

“The introduction and integration of new technological tools by all actors involved in industrial processes (main contractors, engineering firms, auxiliary industries) is becoming an essential aspect for continued improvement and innovation in the sector, as they provide important benefits in terms of increasing efficiency, optimising operations and saving costs”, comments Rafael Márquez, Director of the Aerospace Systems Area at AERTEC Solutions.

“The future of industrial processes in the aeronautical sector lies in the interconnectivity of production processes, automated robotics, the application of new intelligent tools, and the availability of information online in digital format, so that, for example, plant operators or workers can validate the operations carried out via Smart glasses, ”tablets or other mobile devices," explains the company's Director of Manufacturing and Industry Engineering, David Doral.

In this context, the multinational presented some of the initiatives it is developing at Aeromart Montreal, in collaboration with other partners, to advance in that direction towards the so-called Factory of the Future or Digital Factory. Among these works, the project “Digitalisation of knowledge and manufacturing processes” stands out, which aims to adapt the technology and virtual reality environments currently used in the video game field to digitalise the knowledge and management processes in aircraft manufacturing plants.

This project, which is being developed together with Airbus Group Innovations, the technological subsidiary of Airbus Group, and Cranfield University (United Kingdom), includes the development of technological demonstrators and prototypes that can approve and validate the new technology, for which AERTEC Solutions is contributing its know how and experience in the aircraft industrial cycle. Their portfolio of activities in this area includes engineering services for aircraft manufacturing, industrialisation support, control and management of aeronautical manufacturing programmes, development of test systems and implementation of IT-based solutions for plant control.

Currently, it is a preferred supplier for the Airbus group in manufacturing engineering services and programme management for its civil and military aircraft, in addition to providing its knowledge and expertise in industrialisation, manufacturing support, assembly, and design and production support activities.

Aeromart Montreal

Aeromart Montreal is a biennial business meeting organised with the aim of exploring aerospace market opportunities in Canada and North America, and scheduling meetings and establishing business contacts between key industry players.

The event, which celebrated its fourth edition in 2015, will be attended by over 800 companies and 1,300 professionals from 28 countries, who will hold approximately 11,000 business meetings. Among the main companies participating in the event are Bombardier, Boeing, Airbus Group, Bell Helicopter, Safran, Pratt & Whitney, CAE, Honeywell, Dassault, Alenia Aermacchi, AVIC, Latécoère, Mitsubishi, and General Atomics, among others.

The event also includes a conference programme that will cover the latest trends and initiatives in the aerospace supply chain, and new technologies aimed at achieving more sustainable and environmentally friendly aviation, among other issues.
