The importance of trade associations

When we think of a business association, we usually imagine a group of well-dressed sales representatives, bustling about, selling their own products en masse, or sitting behind closed doors trying to figure out why other countries are doing better. The British Aviation Group, affectionately nicknamed «Bag» through its partners, it presents a different perspective, and in this brief article, I will explain why.

We often deceive ourselves into thinking that the best solution is to receive all services from a single provider, but the best solution is to work with the best team.

The BAG is made up of the most important companies in the sector (those with British employees) and has been the country's leading trade association in the sector for 15 years. It operates as a subsidiary of ADS, the UK's leading trade association in the aerospace, defence and security sector. The BAG is fully recognised by the British Government as a member of its programme. UKTI Trade Challenge Partner, within the aeronautical sector, with accreditation Full Delivery Relationships, which allows it to provide commercial services at all levels at events and fairs of the programme Tradeshow Access Programme and, as an industry partner, to embrace new areas of activity. This means that, thanks to our knowledge and experience, we organise a large number of events worldwide and in the UK, which provides our partners with Advantages over competitors.

However, our activity doesn't stop here. We have realised that A large part of the benefits of being a member is the creation of networks among members themselves.. These networks are established on different levels, such as on the special interest groups in which like-minded people meet with guest speakers to discuss opportunities and current topics. The creation of Supply chain contact networks is especially interesting, as British consultants have the most potent global aptitude and track record, so bringing together UK consultants, contractors, and suppliers at special partner days, trade fairs, and other events yields enormous benefits for everyone. Two-way collaboration with suppliers This is highly useful for consultants, who can thus keep up-to-date with the latest innovations in equipment and systems, and with the results of the most recent research, as well as fine-tuning the supply chain for new development opportunities.

The third advantage is the developing collaborative and trusting relationships between partners that they would never get to know each other or that they would see the other as a natural competitor. Although the surprising solidity of UK consultancies implies that companies from that country usually dominate the shortlists for public tenders, the fact that the main consultancies are grouping together can mean not only an offer that is impossible to refuse, but also what the client truly wants. We often deceive ourselves into thinking that the best solution is to receive all services from the same provider, but the best solution is to work with the best team..

To this end, we have a strong and actively committed Board, made up of sixteen directors chosen from all the partners, including a chairman and two deputies who are supported by a full-time team led by David Scotter and Bettina Rigg. For me, it is a privilege to have held the Chairmanship for the past two years, and I am pleased to welcome AERTEC Solutions as a new partner to consolidate their presence in the UK.
