AERTEC Solutions has a collaboration agreement with the European manufacturer Airbus to market a smart industrial manufacturing system called i-Workbench. It is a technology solution for manufacturing electrical cable harnesses, assembling parts and preforms, and mounting equipment, all in a digitalised form. The process is 100% compatible with industry 4.0 and is aimed at improving the work carried out by operators by decreasing costs, reducing preparation and contact times, and improving the final quality of the product.
i-Workbench is a production system that is currently operational for the manufacture of aerospace electrical cable harnesses, but it could be applied to other industrial sectors undergoing job digitalisation.
i-Workbench is a system that has been custom-designed for operators in the manufacturing process. It reduces eye strain by having optical overhead projectors with UV filters, preventing any effects of radiation on the eyes; it provides direct access to the workstation’s information system through digital interactive production orders; it provides real-time and updated information on standards, models, databases and diagrams/drawings; it includes dynamic software with an incident display system; and it controls production in real time.
AERTEC Solutions already collaborated with Airbus DS more than two years ago in the implementation of this new manufacturing technology at the Tablada plant in Seville. The highly satisfactory results of this collaboration allowed the solution to be exported to the Airbus plant in Hamburg at the end of last year. With this new agreement, AERTEC will supply the equipment and oversee the installation of this smart manufacturing system at Airbus’s facilities in Warsaw. This new achievement can be added to the specialised engineering work that AERTEC carries out for the industrialisation, control and management of aeronautical manufacturing programmes and the implementation of technological solutions for plant control. This Andalusian company is also a Tier 1 supplier of manufacturing engineering services and programme management to the Airbus Group for its civil and military aircraft.
