Technical consultancy for the new privatisation of Lille Airport (France)

Client: SMALIM (Syndicat Mixte des Aéroports de Lille et Merville)
Business advice and transaction consultancy (2018)

Lille Airport is owned by the Syndicat Mixte des Aéroports de Lille et Merville (SMALIM) association and is currently managed by the company SOGAREL under a 10-year public sector contract that expired in 2019. Therefore, the owner decided to procure a technical, strategic, legal and financial consultancy service to advise and assist it in the process of selecting a new concessionaire for the next 20 years.

AERTEC is the lead technical consultant in the team hired by SMALIM to carry out these tasks. The scope of the work included in this service is divided into the following phases:

¬ Phase 1: Assessment and auditing of the current airport and existing infrastructure.

¬ Phase 2: Preparing CAPEX and REPEX forecasts for the next 20 years, taking into account the expenditure required to adapt the airport's capacity to future traffic forecasts and to maintain the existing and future infrastructure during the new concession period, based on the results obtained in Phase 1.

¬ Phase 3: Drafting the tender documents for the privatisation process, including an assessment of the current concession contract and, in particular, the service level agreements.

¬ Phase 4: Assistance during the tender process and selection of the successful bidder.

AERTEC provides added value thanks to our experience in airport concession deals around the world, as well as our knowledge of airport CAPEX and REPEX.
