POWER Project

Electrical power system technologies for the decarbonisation of aviation

Programme:

NextGeneration EU / Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan

Period:

2022 – 2025

Area of innovation:

New technologies and architectures for sustainable systems

Project objectives

R&D project under “Major Strategic Projects” within the 2023 Aeronautics Technology Programme. The project is aimed at researching technologies for electric propulsion systems in sustainable aircraft, thereby promoting the decarbonisation of aviation.

The project covers:

Safety and functionality of state-of-the-art HV contactors.

Efficient high-voltage conversion and distribution.

Electrical machines with high efficiency and power density.

Integration and modular design of electric motors to reduce their weight.

AERTEC’s contribution

AERTEC is leading the study of the functional and safety implications of state-of-the-art HV contactors.
