ATLÁNTIDA Project

Application of leading technologies to unmanned aircraft for ATM research and development

Programme:

——————-

Period:

2007-2010

Area of innovation:

Guidance, navigation and control

Project objectives

Headed by Boeing R&T, AERTEC was involved in the design and development of a UAS flight management system (FMS) and a functional testing management graphic interface for an aerial platform test bench.

The main objectives of ATLANTIDA were:

To develop a rigorous scientific/technical approach in order to introduce a high degree of automation in the ATM system.

To study its behaviour under laboratory conditions, with the aid of unmanned aircraft.

To analyse the approach that was developed when applied to a real ATM environment.

AERTEC’s contribution

Within this project, AERTEC carried out the following activities:

  • Specifications of the DETECT&AVOID system for VLL RPAS flights.
Design and development of nodes for the DETECT system.
  • Design and development of the DETECT&AVOID platform.
  • HW/SW integration and laboratory testing.
  • Field tests and validation of the D&A system.
