Remote Interface Unit (RIU)

Input/Output (I/O) interface designed to manage signals in real time and facilitate system-level integration, ensuring optimal performance and reliability

The Remote Interface Unit (RIU) is a subsystem that operates autonomously under normal conditions, and is responsible for collecting and processing sensor data from various aircraft systems and distributing this digital information to the main air vehicle computers and other onboard avionics systems, ensuring that all critical systems are synchronised and working properly for the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft.

Functionality

  • Reading, digitising / processing and sending signals on digital buses
  • Reading signals from the digital bus and generating output signals
  • Filtering, preconditioning and converting input signals to the digital domain
  • Continuously monitoring the status of the controller and associated I/O interfaces
  • Providing continuous feedback on the operational status to the higher-level system
