Master plans (2023)
The Libyan Aviation Authority (LAA) contracted AERTEC to provide airport consultancy services for the development of the Misrata International Airport Master Plan, which aims to plan the future development of the airport infrastructure. The airport is expected to reach 2 million passengers in the future.
The Master Plan outlines all airport subsystems that will have to be built or expanded in the future to meet expected demand in terms of passengers, operations, cargo, etc.
The subsystems analysed for this project are:
- Airport
- Apron
- Air terminal
- Cargo infrastructure
- General aviation area
- Ground transport facilities
- Auxiliary and ancillary facilities
- Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Service (ARFFS)
- Utilities
- Other infrastructure
AERTEC performed the following activities to develop the Master Plan: analysis of the existing infrastructure, traffic forecasting - including passengers and aircraft configurations, capacity-demand analysis, analysis of alternatives, infrastructure development and capital expenditure forecasts. The Master Plan has the following structure.

- Capacity assessment
- Traffic forecast
- Future requirements
- Future development
- Investment plan
AERTEC prepared the necessary documents for a Master Plan in accordance with LAA requirements, the GACAR regulations and other applicable international regulations, such as the ICAO and IATA regulations.
