Client: AENA
Studies and plans: Master Plans (2021-2022)
The Spanish airport operator AENA commissioned AERTEC to draft the new master plans for three of the airports in its network - Valencia, Menorca and Ibiza - with the aim of addressing their needs over the next 20 years.
Valencia Airport
This planning study included the following activities:
- In-depth analysis of existing infrastructures.
- New detailed short-, medium- and long-term traffic forecasts, taking into account the current global situation and the health crisis (impact of COVID on the aviation sector), with the numbers increasing from 8.5 million pax to 13.5 million pax over 20 years.
- Identifying demand-driven and non-demand-driven needs.
- Defining development options and a multi-criteria analysis to determine the different actions to be taken.
- Assessment of compatibility of full development beyond the design timeframe.
AERTEC also carried out further studies, which were necessary for the planning of the entire airport site, including real estate, access roads, CAPEX, cost-benefit analysis, noise footprints, emissions, environmental impact, and investment phasing.
Menorca Airport
The drafting of the new 20-year master plan for Menorca Airport included the following activities:
- In-depth analysis of existing infrastructures.
- New detailed short-, medium- and long-term traffic forecasts, taking into account the current global situation and the health crisis (impact of COVID on the aviation sector), with the numbers increasing from 3.5 million pax to 4.9 million pax over 20 years.
- Identifying demand-driven and non-demand-driven needs.
- Defining development options and analysis of the different actions to be taken.

Ibiza Airport
This planning study for Ibiza Airport included the following activities:
