Airport operating procedures and manuals (2007-present)
As a result of the 9/11 attacks, physical security has taken on increased importance at all airports around the world. The main aim of security is to provide protection against acts of unlawful interference for passengers, crews, employees, the public, aircraft, facilities and the data required to provide air navigation services. To achieve this, airports have had to adapt in order to comply with international and national security regulations. They also have to guarantee minimum quality standards for passengers.
At AENA, both private security and the airport itself are jointly responsible for applying the procedures that appear in the National Security Programme.
AERTEC has provided monitoring, supervision and support services at several airports in its network, including:
- Monitoring the service quality of private security for:
- Performance of operators of x-ray machines in passenger screening and in ABHS
- Passenger screening waiting times
- Passenger complaints
- Perceived service quality rating of private security
- Monitoring of services provided by private security
- Quality plan and self-inspections based on the National Security Programme
- Technical support to the Airport Security Office
- Updates to the Airport Security Programme (ASP)
- Updates to procedures
- Drawing up and updating of plans
- Coordination of the various operating procedures (works, incidents, etc.)
- Support for airport security management system updates
- Support for the drafting and implementation of security-related projects and measures
