Aeronautical safety study of the runway pavement at Guanacaste Airport (Costa Rica)

Client: Vinci Airports and Coriport
Aeronautical safety study (2019)

Costa Rica's Daniel Oduber Quriós Airport (second largest in the country with 1.1 million pax/year), in the province of Guanacaste, requested an aeronautical study to assess the safety of air operations based on the condition of the runway pavement.

AERTEC performed the safety risk management analysis with regard to the condition of the pavement on the runway, taxiways and apron:

  • Application of ICAO regulations doc. 9859 / Operational safety management systems
  • Risk management mitigation measures
  • Technical reports on the runway pavement

AERTEC drew on its previous experience in operational safety and runway paving to provide a rigorous and critical assessment, allowing the client to understand the risks related to air operations and the condition of the runway.
