Airbus selects AERTEC Solutions as Preferred Supplier of manufacturing engineering services for its civil aircraft
¬ The aeronautical engineering and consultancy company becomes the first Andalusian manufacturing engineering Tier One and one of only two in Spain.
¬ Secures two major contracts with workloads for Airbus' main civilian programmes, A350, A380, A320 and A330 worth up to two million euros per year.
¬ The Andalusian multinational has been awarded the contract after a tough European-wide selection process carried out by the aeronautical manufacturer with engineering service providers (known as ME3S).
¬ In order to win these contracts, AERTEC Solutions has had to demonstrate its technical capacity, industrial muscle and experience in the aeronautical sector, where it has extensive knowledge and a long track record of projects carried out for Airbus Defence and Space in the A400M, A330MRTT, C295/CN-235 and EUROFIGHTER aircraft programmes, among others.
The multinational engineering and consulting company AERTEC Solutions, specialising in the aerospace and airport industry and with a presence in the world's major aeronautical programmes, has been selected by aerospace manufacturer Airbus as preferred provider of manufacturing engineering services for its civil aircraft. More specifically, the company will be responsible for providing services in the different areas of manufacturing engineering, which include the activities of industrialisation, manufacturing and assembly support and other design and production support for Airbus' various aircraft programmes, mainly the A350, A380, A320 and A330 models.
This was explained by the CEO of AERTEC Solutions, Antonio Gómez-Guillamón, in the presence of the Regional Minister of Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment, José Sánchez Maldonado, during an informative meeting held with the media within the framework of ADM Seville 2014. AERTEC Solutions, which thus makes the leap into civil aviation, has been awarded this contract after a tough selection process The work packages have been distributed according to various types of clusters or specific activities. The company will be the Tier One or reference supplier for the area known as “Jigs and Tools / Machine and Automation”It is the leader of a consortium formed together with another French company.
The contract includes the development of engineering services at Airbus plants in France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Spain, although AERTEC Solutions will be exclusively responsible for carrying out the work in our country and in the United Kingdom, where the company is established and has its headquarters in Bristol. Thus, the company will work with the plants in Puerto Real (Cádiz), Illescas (Toledo), Getafe (Madrid) and Broughton (United Kingdom) and will focus its activity on the following areas engineering services for the manufacturing process, tooling and automation systems and in managing the work and transferring technical specifications to other Airbus subcontractors and ancillary companies.
AERTEC Solutions has been, together with another company, the only Spanish engineering firm which has led one of the consortia submitted in the Airbus process and which has finally been awarded engineering services as leader of its group's work.
The company will also receive another important engineering workload thanks to its participation in the “Work Preparations” cluster or area, in which it is present through another alliance, and which will involve engineering services for industrialisation and technical support for production carried out in this area at Airbus plants in Spain. With these two contracts with the European manufacturer, the company could earn around two million million euros per year.
“These projects represent not only a quantitative but also a qualitative leap for AERTEC Solutions, as they allow us to enter directly into the civil aviation market, especially in the development of engineering services for Airbus” main civil programmes,“ said Antonio Gómez-Guillamón, the company's general manager. In addition, "consolidates AERTEC Solutions' position as a prime contractor in this type of services and will enable new business opportunities and partnerships in other European countries where Airbus is present, especially in the UK,” he added.
In order to win these contracts, AERTEC Solutions has had to demonstrate its technical capacity and industrial muscle and its experience in the aeronautical sector with references in specific jobs and tasks such as the ability to integrate with other subcontractors and ancillary companies in the Airbus supply chain. This experience is the result of its long track record of projects carried out for Airbus Defence and Space and its military aviation subsidiary for the A400M, A330MRTT, C295/CN 235 and EUROFIGHTER aircraft programmes, among others.
Know-how in aeronautical manufacturing engineering
AERTEC Solutions already has experience in the development of engineering works and services for Airbus, in particular, thanks to a contract for the Programme Management Office (PMO) The European manufacturer in Spain, which will cover the needs in this area in the country's centres until mid-2016.
Its selection as a provider of manufacturing engineering services for Airbus civil aircraft will serve to contribute the knowledge and experience it has accumulated in this type of work with Airbus Defence and Space, for which it has been developing various projects over the last decade. “This initiative will allow us to provide technical and operational expertise We have accumulated with Airbus DS and strengthen our engineering services to position ourselves as a reference company for other major international aeronautical manufacturers,” said David Doral, Director of Industry and Manufacturing at AERTEC Solutions.
The company has been working with Airbus DS for several years following a change in the working model with engineering companies, which has led to a reduction in the number of suppliers and a move towards a more comprehensive engineering service. “This new system, distributed by specific work packages for the engineering subcontractors, provides a more comprehensive engineering service. greater value to the final work and in important aspects such as organisation, management and monitoring systems, etc.. This experience and know-how has allowed us to access these new contracts and will enable us to apply it to the civil aircraft area of Airbus, as well as to transfer it to other countries in its field or in which our company is present,” says David Doral.
