We have been recognised as one of the most sustainable companies globally, after obtaining the silver medal in the assessment by EcoVadis, one of the leading international platforms for ESG (environmental, social and governance) performance analysis. This recognition places AERTEC among the top 6% of companies worldwide in terms of sustainability.
AERTEC: A benchmark in corporate sustainability
EcoVadis is currently one of the most widely used tools by companies and organisations to assess their commitment to sustainability. With more than 130,000 companies assessed in 180 countries and more than 200 sectors, its analyses are based on international standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the United Nations Global Compact and the ISO 26000 standard. We have particularly excelled in environmental performance, one of the four key areas assessed by EcoVadis, along with labour practices and human rights, business ethics and sustainable procurement. Here are some of the milestones that have led to us obtaining this certification:
Reducing energy consumption and circular economy
One of the pillars of AERTEC's ESG strategy has been energy efficiency. Since 2011, the company has been actively working to reduce its environmental impact. As explained by Antonio Zafra, Director of Public Affairs, Sustainability and Infrastructure at the technology company, ‘we have managed to reduce our energy consumption by 35% thanks to constant audits and the implementation of low-consumption technologies, automatic shutdown systems and improvements in operational efficiency.’
At AERTEC, we also apply principles of circular economy</, committed to the reuse and recovery of materials and the reduction of industrial and technological waste from the design stage of our processes.
Sustainability at the heart of technical design
Beyond our internal operations, at AERTEC we transfer our sustainable approach to the projects we develop for our clients, especially in the airport sector. We design solutions that optimise water use, minimise environmental impact and promote efficient and resilient infrastructure. This approach demonstrates how sustainable engineering can be integrated into technical design processes from the outset.
Aertec, compromiso con las personas y la ética empresarial
At AERTEC, we also understand sustainability from a social perspective. Our strategy incorporates policies on inclusion, well-being at work, equality and work-life balance, even anticipating the changes brought about by the pandemic. With a presence in more than 40 countries, cultural diversity and respect for people are an essential part of the company's DNA.
In the area of governance, AERTEC has a robust code of ethics, an active reporting channel and conflict of interest management policies. In addition, we have obtained ISO 27001 certification in cybersecurity, which reinforces our commitment to data protection and transparency.
Contribution to the community and commitment to STEM talent
Sustainability at AERTEC also extends to its impact on the community, with projects such as ‘Euro Solidario’ and collaborations with associations that promote technological vocations among young people, such as ‘Ellas Vuelan Alto’ (Women Fly High).
Next target: Go for the gold medal!
Following this recognition, AERTEC has already begun working on the improvement plan proposed by EcoVadis with the aim of achieving the gold medal in the next assessment. This new challenge reinforces our long-term commitment to a sustainable, ethical and responsible growth model.
