AERTEC, an international technology company specialising in aeronautics and defence, and CATEC, the Advanced Centre for Aerospace Technologies, have joined forces in a strategic project to develop new disruptive technologies related to UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems).. To this end, both entities have set up a Joint Innovation Unit (JIU) called NT-SHAREThe project is an initiative focused on research in the industrial field with the aim of tackling and offering solutions to current technological challenges.
NT-SHARE aims to develop new disruptive UAS-related technologies that form the technological basis for the future development of high value-added applications and services for the UAS industry.
AERTEC and CATEC are two of the main players in the innovation ecosystem of the aerospace sector in Andalusia, especially in the field of UAS, and with the creation of this UIC they will make up a technological base to enable the future development of high added-value applications and services with lightweight and highly efficient unmanned aerial platforms. formed by heterogeneous swarms of UASThe aim is to provide a system that includes collision detection and avoidance systems to allow operation over long distances.
NT-SHARE will develop a series of technology demonstrators for the validation of concepts related to UAS operationwhich will have been previously validated in simulation environments. From a technical point of view, the project aims to develop coordination mechanisms between heterogeneous UAS, to develop automatic unmanned aircraft management technologies, and to develop a collision detection and avoidance system, which allows the integration of both non-cooperative and cooperative aircraft information for the safe integration of UAS in non-segregated airspace.
As a result of the execution of the project, a series of enabling technologies will be available in the fields of study, which can be matured and industrialised in the medium term after the end of the project for future commercial exploitation by the members of this consortium. Because, as Antidio Viguria, Director of Avionics and Systems at CATEC, argues, "the creation of technological knowledge and its transfer to the industrial productive fabric, which is one of CATEC's main objectives, is the best guarantee for companies to maintain their competitive advantages".
Improving the competitiveness of Andalusia's UAS industry
On the economic level, NT-SHARE will contribute to the increase of the industrial and technological fabric related to the UAS / RPAS sector. in Andalusia, will promote investment in R&D in disruptive technological areas that contribute to the positioning of our region in the international market. For Pedro Becerra, AERTEC's Corporate Director of Aerospace & Defence, "this technological synergy between two leading organisations in the UAS / RPAS sector will allow us to continue innovating in a field in which Andalusia has great potential, both because of its scientific and technological infrastructures and because it has highly qualified personnel for the development of RPAS. technological development oriented towards products or services with high added value".
NT-SHARE is an initiative aligned with the Andalusian Innovation Strategy 2020 RIS3 and with the Andalusian Aerospace Action Plan, and which is called to exercise an important tractor effect in the regionThe project will contribute to the generation of new knowledge, to strengthening and extending the relationship between key entities in the innovation ecosystem and to researching and developing technologies that will provide new capabilities to the UAS developed by the Andalusian industry, improving its competitiveness in the global market and giving it a differential character. AERTEC's Development Centre, in the Aerópolis Aerospace Technology Park of Andalusia, will be the headquarters of this strategic project.
