CEUS is a leading international project, involving the INTA (as a public company of the Ministry of Defence), the Ministry of Economy, through the Agency for Innovation and Development of Andalusia (IDEA) and the Ministry of Science and Innovation. It is conceived as a facility for testing advance MALE (medium altitude, long endurance) and HALE (high altitude, long endurance) UAS.
This project is a major extension of the Arenosillo Air Base that the INTA owns and operates nowadays in the same zone.
The aerodrome was designed to develop and test any sort of UAS regardless of its dimensions. It is provided with a paved runway of 2000m x 45m and a second unpaved runway, an apron supplied with up to 4 sites for setting out ground stations, two hangars and a multi-functional building.
In addition, it is also comprised of ancillary facilities, such as maintenance, fuel supply, security and others.
The center is authorized to make use of one of the larger flight restricted areas of Spain with a direct exit to the Atlantic ocean.
AERTEC Solutions has played a key role in this project, being the only consultant that formed part of the work team in charge of setting out the technical necessities and the roadmap of the project. The other 3 companies were INTA, IDEA and Cassidian. All of them were initial promoters of the project.
Currently, AERTEC Solutions is the project manager and the author of the concept design to be used by future contractors to develop the design project and carry out the construction works.
