The multinational engineering and consultancy firm specialising in airports, the aeronautical industry, and defence has been awarded a project for the development of the new master plan from José María Córdova International Airport in Rionegro, on the outskirts of Medellín, in the Antioquia region (Colombia).

The José María Córdova International Airport in Rionegro is currently the second busiest airport in Colombia for both passenger and cargo traffic.

The project, in which AERTEC will work alongside the Colombian firm UG21 and the British engineering firm Mott McDonald, will consist of the development of a master plan that will include a current analysis of the airport to Detecting the need for modernisation of your facilities for the next 20 years, with a forecast of air traffic (passengers and cargo) for the said period and the appropriate guidelines to meet future demand with a quality service, complying with international criteria and standards. The development of a master plan of these characteristics encompasses all phases of airport design: from capacity assessment to the design of terminals, control towers, and ICAO certification.

Also, the plan will include a Technical, operational and financial feasibility study for the creation of a second clue at the Colombian airport, in anticipation of growth in the coming decade. The project contract amounts to more than one million euros and will be carried out within a period of eight months. The aeronautical consultancy AERTEC contributes to these types of projects including traffic studies, concession analysis, and business advisory for airport operators. The complexity of this assignment reflects AERTEC's capability in Airport Project Management, coordinating multiple international teams under strict cost and time control criteria.

The initiative is part of the investment plan for the improvement and expansion of airport infrastructures launched by the Government of Colombia, through AEROCIVIL, the air authority that has awarded the contract.

With this new contract, the multinational aeronautical engineering and consulting firm is strengthening its international presence and its foreign expansion process in Latin America, where it has undertaken various projects in recent years, and particularly in Colombia. Specifically, in the South American country, it has already carried out other important initiatives, such as the design for the improvement of the Cali airport's flight field for international certification, the audit for the tender for the expansion and management of the airports in Barranquilla, Armenia, Neiva, Popayán, and Cartago, the design of the Master Plans for Centro Norte, which includes the airports of Montería, Quibdó, Carepa, and Corozal, or its participation in a project related to the unmanned aerial vehicle (RPAs) sector.

As well as consolidating its role as Company expert in consultancy and auditing for the airport sector and the international weight of its business portfolio, which accounts for more than 80% of its total revenue in the airports sector.

“The José María Córdova Airport in Rionegro is currently the second busiest airport in Colombia for passenger and cargo traffic (after Bogotá), with almost 7 million passengers a year and projections to reach 10 million passengers in the medium term,” explains Carlos Berenguer, Director of Airports at AERTEC.

“It constitutes one of the country's main infrastructures, and hence the need to design a roadmap to adapt, expand and modernise its facilities and services to meet the growing demand expected in the coming years. This is an important project, and we are grateful for the confidence placed in AERTEC Solutions to carry it out,” he adds.

Award of the project for the development of the new master plan for the José María Córdova international airport in Rionegro, on the outskirts of Medellín, in the Antioquia region of Colombia.

[55
42,10,52,28,38,35,39
post-2802","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-noticias","tag-aerolineas","tag-aeropuertos","tag-competitividad","tag-ingenieria","tag-lineas-aereas","tag-planificacion-y-diseno-aeropuertos","tag-terminales
["GET
