The Navigation Pavilion at Isla de La Cartuja in Seville yesterday hosted the 15th Alas Awards for Internationalisation of Andalusian Enterprise, organised by Extenda-Andalusia Export and Foreign Investment, in which several Andalusian companies were recognised after making their mark in the last year for both their internationalisation process and their export activity.

The international technology company has been acknowledged in the category of “Establishment Abroad,” at the 15th Alas Awards for Internationalisation of Andalusian Enterprise.

AERTEC, an international company specialising in aerospace technology, received the award in the “Establishment Abroad” category, the first aeronautical company to be recognised in this category since the creation of the Alas Awards. Its founders, Antonio Gómez-Guillamón and Vicente Padilla, received the award from the chair of the CEA (Andalusia Business Confederation).

Since these aeronautical engineers founded the company in Malaga in 1997, its pace of growth has been constantly concurrent to its internationalisation process. “Our company was founded with an international approach, and today we can work anywhere in the world thanks, to a large extent, to our ability to develop our own technology,” says Antonio Gómez-Guillamón.

Since the completion of its first international contract at Luton Airport in the United Kingdom in 2001, AERTEC’s plan for establishing itself abroad has been consolidating over the past 20 years, with subsidiaries and companies registered in Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Colombia, Peru, the United States and the United Arab Emirates.

This international commitment has enabled the company to reach an external turnover that already represents 40% of its turnover, where the development of aerospace systems and, increasingly, of its uncrewed TARSIS air platforms plays a crucial role.

According to Vicente Padilla, “looking back, it’s easy to understand that internationalisation has been key to growing over the last two decades. This award is an acknowledgement of our entire team, which, through its work, has made the AERTEC brand known in a market as global as the aerospace one.”
